The Hunt For The Perfect Trash Can:

Who knew how tough it would be to find a new kitchen trash can? Just before Christmas our trash can bit the dust. When you stepped on it it used to pop open, you'd drop in your trash, take your foot off and the lid drops closed again. Well, now when you step on it the lid does not open and the can tilts forward as though its going to fall over. It was basic, simple and easy, and it was BIG. I don't usually mind house work, but I really HATE taking the trash out every day. Every few days OK, preferable once/twice a week, but not everyday. And I also hate pulling the trash bag out of the bin because the can is full, and when you get the bag out the bag itself is only half full. It seems like such a waste to me. So we went off to get a new trash can and have now hit 4 different stores and still have not got a new trash can. All the ones we have seen are either so small that they will have to be emptied daily, or they are cheepley made and will not last very long, or they have a $70 price tag attached whick I find WAY too much to pay for a trash can! So, the hunt for the perfect trash can continues...

Not too big...you do want to change it before it starts to smell!

Krista...I find I can't read your blog text unless I highlight it...could you change the colour? Or is this deliberate?

Good luck with the search!

Happy New Year to you & Frank.

I hear you on that. Who thought it would be so hard to find the ultimate garbage can? Our biggest problem is that sometimes the garbage weighs too much so when you step on the foot pedal it breaks the plastic bottom of the garbage can liner. Did that make sense? We usually buy the same Walmart $25 to $30 garbage can. The last time the bottom broke I taped some stiff cardboard on the outside and inside where it was broke to try and add a bit more lifetime to it...so far so good. I keep saying we'll buy the ginormous stainless steel can but I'm too cheap, ha ha.
Happy New Year!

Sorry about the colour, I keep forgetting about the dark green background!
I tried to fix our trash can too but it just wouldn't hold, and though I love the staneless steel ones, I am also too cheep to spend that much on one! *L* I wonder if they will come on sale soon...
